Ask who makes the medicine
FDA warns that people ordering medicine prepared to order through a website may be left unsure which pharmacy or facility made it.
Ask for the full name of the pharmacy or facility that would prepare the product. Ask whether another business handles shipping or payment.
Use the pharmacy board’s record
For pharmacy licensing, the public record sits with the state’s pharmacy board.
FDA’s lookup page sends readers to each state’s pharmacy licensing search.
For pharmacies sending medicine from elsewhere, most states require their own licence or permit; this reflects the September 26, 2026 record.
A licence listing confirms the licence; it does not prove every dispensing decision is appropriate.
Ask what the badge actually covers
For a pharmacy making medicines to order, accreditation means an outside body checked its process against quality standards; this differs from a pharmacy licence.
That check concerns the process, rather than testing every batch produced.
The federal rule recorded September 26, 2026 says facility registration or drug listing does not denote FDA approval.
Ask who issued any badge, what was checked and what record you can inspect. Open “Read the source material” and use “FDA route to state pharmacy licence searches”.
The useful name to retain
Keep the name of the pharmacy or facility that makes it beside the proposed product.
